Sarah Spinler is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, University of the Sciences, in Philadelphia. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Cardiovascular Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Spinler received her bachelor of science and doctor of pharmacy degrees from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She completed a pharmacy residency and fellowship in cardiovascular critical care pharmacy at the University of Illinois. She became a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist in 2006. She serves as a preceptor to pharmacy students and performs clinical research in the coronary intensive care unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
 
Dr Spinler has authored more than 100 research articles, reviews, and books chapters in the area of antithrombotic therapy. She was a member of the steering committee for the CRUSADE Registry, a national quality-improvement initiative that is designed to increase the practice of evidence-based medicine for patients hospitalized with acute coronary syndromes (ACS), and is currently a member of the steering committee of the Interdisciplinary Working Group of the American Heart Association’s Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Interdisciplinary Council. She is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). She was awarded the ASHP Award for Sustained Contributions to the Literature of Pharmacy Practice and served as a Regent of ACCP from 2004 to 2007. She chairs the 2005–2010 Council of Experts, United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Cardiovascular Expert Committee. As a USP Expert Committee Chair, Dr Spinler also serves on the Medicare Model Guidelines Committee. She currently serves on the editorial boards of several biomedical journals including Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, American Journal of Managed Care, and Drugs.
