Arthur Wheeler, MD is Associate Professor of the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and went on to complete training programs in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care at Vanderbilt University.

Dr Wheeler is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Federation for Clinical Research and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. His research in sepsis, thromboembolic disease, and acute lung injury has resulted in more than 100 publications. He is a coauthor of the textbook Critical Care Medicine, now in its third edition. Dr Wheeler has delivered hundreds of national and international lectures and is the recipient of numerous teaching awards. He currently serves as Director of the Vanderbilt Intensive Care Unit.
