Michel M. Murr, MD

Michel Murr is Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida and is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Tampa General Hospital, in Tampa. Dr Murr received his undergraduate science degree in 1983 and his medical degree in 1986, both from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Between 1987 and 1998, he completed postgraduate training in pathology and general surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and fellowship training in gastrointestinal surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Dr Murr has been board-certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1994.

Dr Murr currently serves on the editorial board for Obesity Surgery and the Journal of Surgical Research, and he is a regular reviewer for Annals of Surgery, Archives of Surgery, and Surgery. He is the author of several book chapters and has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Surgical Research, Obesity Surgery, and American Journal of Surgery. Dr Murr has presented his research findings at a number of scientific meetings and is frequently invited to lecture at national and international institutions.

Dr Murr is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Association of Academic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and the Society of University Surgeons.
