Dan Fintel is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and is an attending physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, as well as Director of the Coronary Care Unit. Dr Fintel graduated magna cum laude from Yale University and the Harvard Medical School, Harvard-MIT Program in Health, Science and Technology. His internship and residency in medicine were performed at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and he completed a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins. He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialties in cardiovascular disease, critical care medicine, and nuclear cardiology.

Dr Fintel is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Chest Physicians and is actively involved in research in several different areas of cardiology. Dr Fintel’s principal research interests are in antithrombotic therapies for acute coronary syndromes and nuclear cardiology imaging. He has been a principle investigator at Northwestern for a number of clinical trials of fibrinolytic, anti-ischemic, and antithrombotic therapy, and has served on the Acute Cardiac Care Subcommittee of the American Heart Association and the Cardiovascular Network of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is the author of more than 100 published articles, reviews, book chapters, electronic publications, and research abstracts. In addition to his medical school responsibilities, Dr Fintel maintains an active clinical practice and professional teaching schedule in both cardiology and critical care, and he is in great demand as a lecturer by his colleagues.
