American College of Cardiology (ACC) 2008 Newsletter

  Printer-friendly version

ACC 2008, the 57th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology, held March 29 to April 1, 2008, in Chicago, included presentations on some of the most important and controversial issues in cardiology today. This newsletter summarizes the key presentations on acute coronary syndromes, including several late-breaking trials. Among the subjects addressed are anticoagulation for patients with STEMI or NSTEMI, reducing time-to-treatment for patients undergoing PCI or fibrinolysis, comparative effectiveness of reperfusion strategies, risk stratification, and the widely discussed ENHANCE trial. Results from each trial are reported in concise format and followed by a discussion of the trial’s implications for clinical practice.
