Have you checked out the INATE website?

INATE (INvestigators Against ThromboEmbolism) is an educational website that aims to improve the worldwide management of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE). Started in 2001 by a Core Group of 12 investigators from various disciplines around the globe, it is an excellent source of information for both patients and professionals.

Adjunctive Anticoagulation in Fibrinolysis
A review of recent clinical trials examining the use of anticoagulants in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction receiving fibrinolytic agents.

ThrombosisClinic Vol. 1, No. 1
Anticoagulation therapy is an important consideration in the management of serious medical conditions, particularly acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Treatment strategies that include the use of antithrombotic agents are the focus of numerous clinical studies. Knowledge about the latest advances based on clinical data may help clinicians determine the best course of action by weighing the risks and benefits of therapy for each patient.

Summary of New Recommendations for the Use of Anticoagulant and Antiplatelet Agents in the 2007 ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients With Unstable Angina/Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
In this update to the American Journal of Cardiology, Marc Cohen, MD, FACC, discusses new recommendations for the use of anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents from the ACC/AHA 2007 Guidelines for the Management of Patients With UA/NSTEMI.

Risk Factors for Venous Thromboembolism
In this Update, Joseph A. Caprini reviews multiple factors that place a person at risk for developing VTE and presents a VTE risk assessment scoring system.

Strategies for Pharmacologic Thromboprophylaxis in the Obese Patient
Obesity Update edited by Giselle G. Hamad reviewing the implications of
obesity as a risk factor for VTE, the methodology of risk stratification, and
current pharmacologic strategies for the treatment and prevention of VTE.

Applications of Recent Antithrombotic Trial Results in the Management of ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction in the Emergency Department and in Elderly Patients
In this update, Deborah Diercks, MD provides information on the most recent trials and how these trials will change standard clinical practices to better treat STEMI in these complex and varied patient groups.

Obesity, Bariatric Surgery, and Venous Thromboembolism
In this update, Scott F. Gallagher, MD, discusses the relationship between venous thromboembolism (VTE) and obesity, as well as the risk for VTE associated with bariatric surgery.

Antithrombotics and Thrombolytics for the Treatment of Acute Coronary Syndromes
In this update Geno J. Merli, MD, FACP, from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, gives a detailed overview for treating patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS), including unstable angina/non–ST-elevation myocardial infarction (UA/NSTEMI) and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), as well as those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Congenital Coagulation Disorders
This educational update, edited by Dr Judith Lin, will introduce the audience to different types of congenital thrombophilic disorders. This program will facilitate understanding of different situations in which thrombophilic testing is highly recommended. The participant should be able to discuss the role of anticoagulants in congenital thrombophilias as well as understand the need for genetic counseling in patients with congenital thrombophilia or thrombotic risk factors.

Case Vignettes - Atrial Fibrillation
This educational activity consists of 5 cases that illustrate different aspects of the management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). These cases are intended to further the understanding of and distinguish between various types of patients who have AF and illustrate the best treatment strategies for each.

Challenges in Diagnosis and Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome in the Emergency Department
In this update, Deborah Diercks, MD, and Eve Kaiyala, MD, review recent studies and guidelines on diagnosis and initial treatment of unstable angina and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction as well as ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.

Thromboprophylaxis in Arthroscopic Surgery
These case vignettes are intended for health care professionals who treat patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery who may be at risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE).

Thromboprophylaxis in Cancer Patients
This update is intended for health care providers involved in treating cancer patients who may be at risk for developing thromboembolism.  Dr Kessler will explain the importance of appropriate prophylaxis for VTE in cancer patients and suggest that there is a strong rationale for the use of extended prophylaxis to prevent the recurrence of thromboembolic events in this population.

Thrombosis in Women
This supplement to the second issue of the second volume of Gender Medicine will focus on Thrombosis in Women. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a leading cause of death in the United States.  Women may have additional risk factors that need to be addressed in VTE risk assessment scores.
